Mission: Develop cultural events , artists, and platforms to disseminate conscious messages and facilitate connections via  virtual communities and in person via cultural and civic engagement workshops, events, that encourages healing from traumas stemming from  exploitation and oppression of Black culture that has manifested in the self destruction of our bodies, minds, and communities. 

PURPOSE: 

POETIC RECOVERY’s purpose is cultural healing. It encourages and supports healing and recovery via offering alternative spaces and methods of cultural expression. The goal is to address the emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social damage caused by externally induced, self-destructive images derived from cultural exploitation and appropriation of Black culture by the entertainment industry. Poetic Recovery seeks to encourage healing from trauma and strives to create communities safe from all forms of violence while encouraging civic engagement as a way to heal from political and systemic oppression in all our communities.

POETIC RECOVERY provides physical and virtual spaces and hosts cultural events that encourage cultural expression free of cultural appropriation and exploitation to encourage and build healthy cultural representations of those from oppressed and impoverished communities. Poetic Recovery is committed to developing spaces where artists and community members can express, promote, and communicate past and present experiences freely as an aid to their recovery and connect to others to build a supportive cultural recovery community.
