Poetic Recovery was created by Maurice “Soulfighter” Taylor in 2006, as a platform to give voice to conscious artists, artist in all as aspects recovery, and the community access to a space for healing . Poetic Recovery is a collection of cultural and educational activities that facilitate the nurturing of artists towards higher consciousness. These activities allow artists to reflect and perform for audiences from communities effected by traumatic experiences. These shared energies will help facilitate a cultural healing process between artists and community to recover of our cultural identity appropriated and exploited by the music industry that has resulted in cultural genocide.
In a time where Black culture especially Hip Hop has been appropriated, exploited, and used to promote negative messages. Poetic Recovery is needed to give conscious artists, artists in recovery people a platform to speak their own mind, and a place where people from all backgrounds can come together in an alcohol ans drug free space.
